The recently published Lord O’Shaughnessy’s review on commercial clinical trials in the UK called for ‘exceptional best practice’ to become the norm, so that patients, the NHS, and the UK as a whole can benefit by establishing the UK as a world-class destination for clinical research.
I am delighted to share that over the next few months I will be collaborating closely with other industry leaders to support this aspiration through my active participation in the UK Clinical Trials Talent Taskforce, which is being led by the @@NHS Research and Development Forum and @IAOCR.
The Taskforce has been set up in direct response to Lord O’Shaughnessy’s report and will focus on the roles of clinical trial site staff working in both the NHS and commercial sector in the UK. Together we will be looking at how we can develop a best-in-class holistic ecosystem for talent attraction, development, professional recognition and retention, in order to create a sustainable pipeline of exceptional talent and an outstanding clinical research workforce.
I am honoured to have been asked to lead one of the sub-groups of this Taskforce.
